GPS Action Replay - Race Viewer Instructions
! First !
When loaded, the GPS Action Replay applet will automatically start playing with preset settings.
I recommend the following initial changes for best viewing:
- Click square button
in Run group (top left) to stop initial auto-play.
- Click minimize button in horizontal splitter
to hide graphs at the bottom of drawing area
- Un-check menu Options \ "Track's color depend on speed"
- Un-check menu Options \ "Show color settings on screen"
- Check menu Options \ Time \ UT-4 for correct times
- Check menu Dynamic view \ "User's name" - to show boat names in the drawing
area
- Check menu Dynamic view \ "Speed (knots)" - to show boat speeds in the
drawing area
- Use the mouse to set the windsock control to the wind angle for the race.
Move the mouse and
then click to set the angle.
I have included
the estimated wind angle for each race at the top of the screen.
Zoom In/Out
Zooming in and out is a bit confusing with this applet. Here's how things work:
- The master control is the Scale slider at the screen top
- When you click in the drawing area it will zoom in on the point where you clicked.
- To reset zooming for a view of all tracks:
- Select all tracks/boats in the "Trajectories" list (top right)
(By clicking on the first boat name, scroll and then shift-click on the last boat name.)
- Click the [Scale] button.
Manual Playback Control
- You can control playback manually by using the big slider (Time Handling box) at the screen bottom.
- Be sure to leave the "True timing" radio button selected.
Automatic Playback Control
- VCR buttons (top left) in Run box control the playback.
- Speed slider (top center) controls playback speed.
Polar Graph Data
- Check menu Graphs \ "Polaires-VMG" to open the separate polar graph window.
- You may need to reduce and reposition the main browser window in order to see the polar graph window and the main window at the same time.
The polar graph will dynamically change as boats are moved along the tracks using the time controls described above.
- You can resize the polar graph window by grabbing the edges.
- The slider in the polar graph window scales the polar graph. You should slide it to near the left end to see data from our races.
- The Max and Average checkboxes show additional data. Uncheck these boxes to see current data only.
- You must set the windsock control to get correct data on the polar graph.
